The project Dytikós begins with my admiration and the connection I have developed for this kind of wind over the years but also for the acoustic landscape of Gavdos in general. It describes a short journey that starts in the boat from the port of Sfakia to end at the beach of Stravolimni. It tries to convey the acoustic contrasts and inwardness I have experienced during
my stay there. The work is composed exclusively from environmental recordings in various parts of Stravolimni and Ag. Georgis area, with minimal technical interventions.
In recent years I spend a lot of time as a free camper on the island of Gavdos. What has fascinated me the most there are the continuous contradictions that I face in everyday life. These of course are also transferred to the acoustic field which never stop surprising me. From windless quiet nights in Ag. Georgis where you can get lost in the amazing soundstage of crickets and the calls from the lizards, to the strong westerly winds on the beach of Stravolimni that almost completely monopolize the acoustic landscape. These winds could constantly travel you with their rich and complex audio content. You just have to let yourself be carried away. At first they sound like a wind... But as you immerse yourself in them, you discover endless sustained tonal clusters and audio phased differences that cover almost the entire range of huma frequency perceptions. The acoustic relationship you develop with the Dytikos wind can change from minute to minute, from meter to meter, depending on the time and the point you observe it.

In this part of Gavdos, in the area of Stravolimni, the wind affects not only the acoustic landscape but also the whole daily life of the campers who need to adapt to it to perform even the simplest tasks (eg a hearth for eating ). In this sense, the wind is one of the most dominant elements in the region, which demands respect if you decide to stay there, at the same time rewarding you with an endless environmental musical composition.

Bio

While researching for new forms and musical experiences, I have participated in various artistic projects. Through experimentation, musical mutations and sound contrasts, I seek to convey the tone of my sensual filter. It is an ongoing
process. Sometimes the message changes, other times I discover new, more efficient ways to convey it. My music is tied to electronic and environmental sounds through which I find more freedom to shape my tone and express myself. Iideally I aim to stimulate forgotten emotional events or to discover new ones. The music pace is just as important to tune in to the audience. Finally pauses, through which I want to give the listeners time to process the experience that may ideally instantly expand their consciousness.
