A brief presentation and discussion about the different approaches to the sound environment through the prism of electroacoustic music and in particular soundscape composition. 
 Soundscape: from the sounding environment to music and back again

A brief presentation and discussion about the different approaches to the sound environment through the prism of electroacoustic music and in particular soundscape composition. A practice that is interested in highlighting the dimensions and magnitudes of our diverse sound environments, in order to raise awareness and understand our own auditory relationships and interactions with these environments. The presentation will be accompanied by environmental recordings and music excerpts from the international repertoire.

This event is part of the Soundcamp at Flora &Fauna Preservetion Park in Chania,Crete.

Bio
Nikolas Valsamakis composes and teaches sound synthesis and electroacoustic music. He is a founding member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA). Since 2002, teaches in the Department of Music Technology & Acoustics (HMU), in Rethymno, where he co-directs the Studio of Music Interaction and Polyphony
