Piirimäe is surrounded by rural farmland, boreal and marshy forests which are home to a wide range of birds, frogs and domestic cattle. Commons bird species include; robins, chaff finches, eurasian skylarks, northern lapwings, common snipes, song thrush, warblers, tits, corncrakes, wood pigeons, woodpeckers, waxwings, nightingales, magpies, ravens, cranes, storks, and migrating geese.
