Schloss Solitude is set at the edge of the Solitude Forest (Glemswald), surrounded primarily by continuous woodland of oak, beech, and mixed deciduous trees, giving it a distinctly peri-urban forest character rather than that of a city park. Immediately around the palace are formal Baroque lawns, open meadows, and a long axial avenue bordered by maintained grassland, forming its historic landscaped setting.
Situated at the forest–lawn interface of Schloss Solitude near Stuttgart, this stream documents a peri-urban ecotone where Baroque-managed grassland intersects with contiguous mixed deciduous woodland (Glemswald). It contributes to a longitudinal, site-specific mapping of dawn soundscapes, following sunrise across multiple time zones to foreground acoustic variability.

Dawn timing: The dawn chorus typically initiates 45–60 minutes prior to sunrise, reaching peak vocal density around sunrise and gradually dispersing over the subsequent hour, reflecting circadian patterns of avian vocalisation and light-mediated ecological activity.

Expected sounds: The acoustic field develops from sparse, low-amplitude solo vocalisations (e.g. robins, blackbirds, thrushes) into a stratified and polyphonic assemblage including tits, finches, wrens, and percussive woodpecker drumming. This biophonic layer is interwoven with geophonic elements and low-level anthrophonic traces of distant traffic, evidencing the site’s position within a peri-urban gradient.

Microphones: Rode NTG4 in combination with a Sony Parabolic Reflector PBR-330, facilitating both directional long-range capture of discrete avian signals and the retention of broader ambient spatial characteristics.
