Sonic Oasis - Anderson Acoustics
This streaming location is located within the built environment but natural sounds occur when sounds from the city are quieter e.g. at dawn.
This is the first of numerous locations we will set up in order to raise awareness about sound in the built environment and in nature.
At SonicOasis and Anderson Acoustics we want to build awareness about the important role sound plays in our everyday life.
It’s time to change the way we design our landscape and built environment. To develop sustainably, maintaining quality of life, we need to design for sound, not just mitigate to reduce noise.
Sound has a direct relationship to how we feel, yet is often one of the last things considered in the design and development of the spaces we visit, use and inhabit. Collaboration between multiple disciplines is needed to integrate the soundscape into the holistic Placemaking design approach. Engagement with and understanding of local communities priorities and a broader understanding of non acoustic factors is an essential aspect to enable a valued and positive outcome.
