We will listen to twilight and sunrise from a rooftop in Kipseli, with a stereo mic, inductor mics, and a partnering broadcast from Santorini.
Hosted by artist and co-director of Kinisi Festival, Alyssa Moxley. |
This broadcast of the dawn chorus from central Athens coincides with Orthodox Easter, so we expect to hear birds, many bells, possibly fireworks, and definitely mopeds. We will also use inductors and radio scanners to listen to the remnants of electromagnetic dawn through some of the many disused antennae scattered across the rooftop. We will also listen to sounds incoming from the Aegean, where Ramona Stout will be broadcasting the dawn from Santorini. Alyssa Moxley works with Ramona Stout as Mazi Collective. We like to designate times and places for listening together. Last year we broadcast with Reveil from Santorini, where we are organizing the Kinisi Festival of Sound, next scheduled for October 2016. This series of events brings together folk musicians and experimental sound artists from around the Balkans on the island of Santorini. For Reveil 2016 we will broadcast simultaneously from Santorini and Athens.
