Soundcamp are an arts cooperative based at Stave Hill Ecological Park in Rotherhithe and Workshop #1 in Loughborough Junction. We work on transmission ecologies from DIY broadcasting devices to public sound and radio projects. As part of the Acoustic Commons network, we coordinate the long-form radio broadcast Reveil (2014—), and a series of sound and ecology events (soundcamps) on Dawn Chorus day each year.

Les Minières collective (Armelle, Cyril, Emilie, Manon, Marvio and Thibaut) invited Lucinda Guy and Alice Armstrong from Soundart Radio (UK), and Robert Hamelijnck and Nienke Terpsma, artists and editors of Fucking Good Art (NL), to join Dawn Chorus and set up an informal sound camp experience. This will take place in one of the half-open barns of Les Minières with a view over the organic vegetable plots and the surrounding forest. It will give shelter from rain and wind and is perfect for various activities. Here we will hang-out during the Dawn Chorus and listen while at the same time broadcasting our own livestream, recorded with a microphone high in the dovecote tower.

Dr. Bram Thomas Arnold of Falmouth University will be curating a Soundcamp in the Meadow. Featuring live music from The Worm and guests (tbc), food for supper and a performance lecture on the nature of sound in a digitally altered world. The full 24-hour stream composed of hundreds of individual globally dispersed microphones will also be played in the Studio at Kestle with an interactive map highlighting who has listened to what and when…

Kestle Barton will bring its own layer of magic to this event as we rise early on 5th May in time for a deep listening event attending to the different stages of dawn as we move from astronomical, through nautical to civil twilight where the birds wake us up to the world with new ears, new eyes and a new understanding of our being on this planet, near the southern tip of Britain, rotating in a westerly direction at 668mph.

It hosts a local community that has been growing around the establishment of the Cremisan Monastery in the 19th century. A stream from Todmorden's public park.  The park's habitat includes managed grassland, scrubby, wooded slopes and boggy bits.  It's full of birdlife including robins, wrens, dunnocks, blackbirds, song thrushes, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, chaffinch, nuthatches, gold crest, treecreepers, rooks, carrion crow, jackdaws, wood pigeons and woodpeckers.  The stream is via a Streambox made at a 2023 Calderdale Sound Network eco-radio workshop with Mort Drew from Soundcamp.
