We’ll set our alarms to wake up early on Saturday morning in order to greet the birds and broadcast the sounds of Miami Dade to the world via solar-powered audio livestream. Then we’ll have breakfast while listening to live streams from a network of other soundcamps all around the earth before carpooling to Pinecrest group camp in Big Cypress.

You are invited to join an overnight soundcamp to celebrate celebrate the 11th anniversary of Reveil and International Dawn Chorus Day from 4-5 May, 2024. It will be a small group and we are limited to 4 parked cars at our campsite—Please reserve your place early and plan to carpool with us. Every 24 hours at dawn, birds and other beings create a wave of sound at a time when humans are relatively quiet. We’ll set our alarms to wake up early on Saturday morning in order to greet the birds and broadcast the sounds of Miami Dade to the world via solar-powered audio livestream. Then we’ll have breakfast while listening to live streams from a network of other soundcamps all around the earth before carpooling to Pinecrest group camp in Big Cypress. We’ll have a vegetarian dinner and gather around a campfire before sleeping in tents on Saturday night. Please note that there is no electricity or running water at this campsite. This is an all ages event on the homelands of the Tequesta, Miccosukee, and Seminole people. No drinks, no drugs, no jerks. Please leave animal friends at home. Schedule Saturday 4 May 6:00 AM meet in El Portal for the solar radio broadcast 7:00 AM: morning stretch / movement 7:30 AM: bagel breakfast * 8:30 AM: carpool to Big Cypress *** You can skip the breakfast and solar radio broadcast if it's too early for you, but please note that we will leave El Portal promptly at 8:30. We are limited to 4 cars so if you want to join this trip, please plan to carpool with us at this time. 10:00-5:00: 45min-1 hour workshops around listening, sound, swamp science, acoustic ecology, technology, climate, play, or physical or somatic practices 6:00 PM: vegetarian dinner 7:00 PM: camp fire with s’mores 10:00 PM: lights out Sunday 5 May hikes and/or carpool back to Miami What’s provided in exchange for your donation? breakfast, lunch, dinner, campsite fee, snacks, fire wood, microphone and broadcasting equipment What to bring?
