White’s Wood, Aldington, Kent Jane Bravery for Art and Music in Wild Places, and Led by the Wild
Latitude: +51.09027540632378°
Mixed ancient woodland in Kent, UK, with a variety of birds and animals
|
White’s Wood is an ancient broadleaf and coppice woodland, which lies just at the base of Aldington Ridge along which runs the Saxon Way. The woodland clothes the ridge densely, and separates the ridge from the mostly arable fields above, and those of the Romney Marsh stretching out below.Flush with wood anemones, bluebells and various interesting orchids, this wood has been largely untouched for many years, so has developed a diverse ecosystem supporting many varieties of birds, insects, small and large mammals. Recently bought by Led by the Wild, parts of it are now used as a woodland school, and for events with nature.
