Julian Weaver-Rastrick Viaduct (stream 1)
Rastrick Viaduct #1
Before the Rastrick viaduct…
On the road in front of the Rastrick viaduct, a mature horse chestnut provides refuge for a variety of birdlife who accompany the arrival of dawn light.
As morning moves along, gulls fly in from the ecotone targeting ill-tied bin liners and fast food discarded in the early hours.
This stream accompanies a second placed below the viaduct using the building in between like a dummy head.
The road is bounded by several main traffic arteries, the Eastern train line towards Kent and the London mainline.
Live stream on the Locus Sonus open microphone network, occasional since January 2017. Installed by Julian Weaver (Finetuned), it uses a Raspberry Pi streambox with Cirrus Logic audiocard, running V 3.1 of the streambox software developed by Stef Cousot et al. It includes the live audio streaming software Darkice, an open source project by Ákos Maróy and Rafael Diniz.
Microphones are EM172s with Rycote mini-windjammers, taped to hang out of top of the upper sash and window jamb.
