The urban soundscape offers a very rich sonic experience. It is characterized by high density, variety, contains many contrasts, and is associated with a vast array of symbols and associations. It is literally the soundtrack of our culture as it stems from everyday materials, devices, people, relationships, processes, and systems.  

Various elements of the urban soundscape fuel a multitude of sonic behaviors in my works, and either as interrelated symbols and sonic metaphors or as contrapuntal trends and meta-images, they invite the listener to immerse into the sound and its organically connected musical entities. Besides a composer’s – sound collector’s maximalist kaleidoscope, city-scape recording fuels for me an interest in improvisation with real-time sound design techniques.
