Laonikos is a shakuhachi player and wilderness guide. The stream is from the River Lea in between the Leyton and Hackney Marshes in London.

This area has been the site of tensions - between people who rightly see this beautiful nature spot as a glimpse into paradise, however choose to visit en masse and in the process disrupt local wildlife and soil, leaving rubbish and making fires in huge crowded parties throughout the warmer weekends in the summer; and the local residents, who advocate for the protection of vulnerable species (such as Kingfisher and bats), the soil, and who try to inform visitors of the huge pollution issues surrounding raw sewerage spilt into those rivers further upstream, posing serious health hazards.

Since moving back to London in 2017, Laonikos has fallen in love with this small stretch of paradise, and all its non-human inhabitants, and has spent hours practicing, listening, walking, and live-streaming from this location.
