Earley Chorus (Sarah Sparkes & Ian Thompson) are bivouacing in what remains of the ancient Forest of Earley – a precious strip of woodland lost in the depths of Reading suburbia next to a meandering stream flowing into the Thames via the River Loddon.
Earley Chorus (Sarah Sparkes & Ian Thompson) are bivouacing in what remains of the ancient Forest of Earley – a precious strip of woodland lost in the depths of Reading suburbia next to a meandering stream flowing into the Thames via the River Loddon.

The woodland and farmland, once part of the private Maiden Erlegh estate, were largely built over for housing in the 1960s and 80s leaving a small area of woodland around the lake and between the housing estates.

Despite the ongoing threat from speculative property developers, the remaining woods still support a diverse population of bird and wild life. Listen out for red kite, woodpecker, finches, and other species.

Located at the heart of the Thames Valley river basin, Earley Chorus is featured as part of the InspiralLondon Hydracity project:
