Our ambisonic mic feed – mixed to binaural for the stream – is located in a patch of native bush, Karaka and Pohutakawa trees, between two colonial era homes. Native birdlife can be abundant, with Tūī (a honeyeater), Kererū (wood pigeon), and Kākā (a parrot) all prevalent thanks to the site's proximity to Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, a fully-fenced urban ecosanctuary. The location is on hills at the fringes of the city centre, so traffic noise is always present, with occasional interjections from the port and airport.
