Tidal Migration at GPEP, London

Live from the living roof of GPEP Gatehouse, this is the soundscape of a unique urban wetland nestled by the tidal River Thames in London, near to its flow through the Thames Flood Barrier. The livestream also celebrates over 10 years of collaboration between Reveil and Inspirallondon.

Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park (GPEP) is a rich urban wildlife oasis that has played an important role in the area’s regeneration and community life since its creation in 2002. With striking freshwater habitats and a wealth of wildlife, this tranquil park is a stunning natural area for people to discover and enjoy in the heart of Greenwich Peninsula.
The park includes two lakes surrounded by marshland, a small Alder woodland, and a walk-in wildflower meadow. It’s home to a fascinating array of wildlife, with two bird hides allowing fantastic views of species such as snipe and water rail in winter, and reed warblers and swifts in summer. It is also a Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation (SLINC).

And with support of InspiralLondon:
InspiralLondon is an ambitious artist-led metropolitan trail, a collective on the ground mapping, co-creating a new walk trail winding in and out of London. This initial mapping was finished in 2015. In 2025 Re/Walk Festival – Excavate, Explore, Exchange – Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of InspiralLondon Trail with a festival of seven plus seven, unique walks as participatory experiences. The festival walks will take you to other hidden and less well-known parts of the city; detouring from the trail, in exploring underexplored, buried aspects of the city or walking together by night.
At over 300-miles of pathway, the trail is divided into 36 segments all easily accessible by public transport, allowing the public – walkers, urban explorers and ecologists, excursionists, citizens – to re/experience the city and its environs as one vast art space in which to re-imagine the built and natural environment. Note we will be conducting a sound ecology walk on morning 4th May from GPEP towards Stave Hill Ecology Park. See info HERE
