Listening in to the dawn chorus at Wild Nephin National Park and Mayo Dark Sky Park.

Wild Nephin National Park is located on the western seaboard in northwest Mayo, Ireland.

This area is a haven for nature to thrive and covers a vast 15,000 hectares of unspoilt wilderness, dominated by the Nephin Beg mountain range. It is also home to Mayo International Dark Sky Park, one of the few places left showcasing some of the darkest, most pristine skies in the world.

This stream will offer a small sonic glimpse into this wonderfully wilderland and its diverse habitat.

Anne Marie Deacy is a commissioned artist on the Wilderland public art & community ecology project in Mayo. 

This project aims to raise awareness for biodiversity and foster support for Wild Nephin National Park – Páirc Náisiúnta Néifinne Fiáine and its conversion plan to restore Nephin Forest and create a wilderness sanctuary for biodiversity and habitat preservation, through a two-year programme of embedded research, public art, engagement, creative community workshops which will culminate in site-responsive artworks.
