Situated at the medieval gateway in the castle walls to the south of the City of Durham, known as Watergate or Baileygate. Through the gate is the picturesque Grade 1 listed 'Prebends Bridge'; the attached photo shows the far side of this bridge.
The narrow cobbled lanes should provide an interesting acoustic accompaniment to the dawn chorus. I can't help but imagine what this area might have sounded like after its construction in the 13th Century.
