I will be streaming with a north-facing H2n and iPhone8 with Locuscast from the back of my home on Ontario Highway 62 just outside the village of Maynooth, Municipality of Hastings Highlands, in the granite highlands just south of Algonquin Provincial Park on unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe Territory and Kijicho Manitou Madaouskarini First Nation. Birds that might possibly be heard include Downy, Hairy and Pileated Woodpeckers, Eastern Phoebes, Northern Flickers, White-throated Sparrows, Blue Jays and others. The windchime is a Woodstock Chimes of Earth tuned to the pentatonic scale. Highway 62 here follows the Old Hastings Colonization road and traffic in front of the house includes resource extraction trucks carrying logs and aggregates, cottagers pulling boats to the many lakes in the environs and local vehicles. This region is in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Forest zone dominated by hardwood with a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees such as maples, birches, hemlock and red and white pine. (Boreal Hardware Forest Transition). This area was clear cut about 120 years ago, cut again 50 years ago and the patch of woods behind my house is typical of mostly unhealthy second growth forest but has some nice balsam fir. The house was built in 1965. Elevation is 430m and at sunrise in early May the temperature is likely to be about 8°C.
