In Northern Sweden, a live listening experience to the Arctic unfolds, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the sounds of the environment. A crafted microphone, housed in a carefully constructed box resembling a pair of ears, was suspended from a tree last summer near the scientific institute in Abisko. It continuously broadcasts the auditory landscape of the region. Listeners can participate in real-time observations of changing seasons, capturing the movements of various birds and insects, the resonance of storms, and the tranquility of frozen lakes or snow-covered landscapes that later transform into water streams. Despite the natural sounds, audible elements such as passing trains and human activities related to mining and tourism contribute to the overall soundscape. Beneath the audible surface lies a complete ecosystem.
