An urban lakeside park in west Toronto, that’s a popular stop for migrating birds.
You are listening to the sounds from a large, mostly-treed urban lakeside park. The mic is a DIY stereo SASS (quasi-binaural) array that uses two PUI AOM5024 electret omni mics. The mic array is facing west, towards the park, so the lake shore is to your left, and the city is to your right.
You will (hopefully) hear distant songbirds - some of them migratory - and shore birds. You might also hear some close-up birds that are coming to our backyard feeder. There will also be urban sounds - occasional local traffic, trains from about 1 km away, and an expressway that's about 3 km away.
I'm using a gentle high-pass filter around 150 Hz to reduce the urban drone/rumble. Did I mention we're sometimes on the flightpath for a major airport? :-(
