A small wetland connected to a natural stream, tucked within a newly built riverside apartment complex in Deokeunjigu, Goyang — on the edge of Seoul. At dawn, the water sounds and frog calls of this unlikely urban habitat mix with birdsong and the distant hum of the Han River. Live stream by sound artist Cho Eunhee (http://choeunhee.kr).
Deokeunjigu is a new residential district in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, developed on land that borders Seoul's Sangam district and the Han River estuary. Though barely a few years old as a neighbourhood, the site retains a small natural stream and wetland within its grounds — a remnant ecology that has quietly persisted through the area's transformation. Every spring, frogs return to call from the water's edge.

This stream captures the dawn soundscape of that wetland: the chorus of tree frogs, water sounds, and the layered ambience of a place where a new city and older nature coexist. Cho Eunhee is a Seoul-based sound artist and composer whose practice centres on site-specific listening, field recording, and the acoustic documentation of Korean landscapes through her long-running Sound Map Archive project.
