Gökotta is a Swedish tradition of gathering at dawn in early spring to listen for the cuckoo (gök). In folklore, the cuckoo is considered a prophetic bird; its call and the direction it comes from are said to foretell what is to come. At daybreak on May 3rd, a Gökotta will take place in Käglinge Recreational Area, broadcasting and archiving the state of this ecosystem, while the local morning chorus connects with the global Reveil broadcast, transmitting the sun’s awakening of the Earth.
