From an isolated farm in southern Slovenia, this stream by Tarik Haskić is captured using a Sound Devices MixPre-3 and Lom Uši Pro microphones in A–B stereo, together with a VLF antenna detecting electromagnetic activity in the 3–30 kHz range.
Set in a quiet stretch of southern Slovenia, where the landscape rises from the coast into low hills, this stream listens to the interplay between cultivated land and surrounding wilderness. Rhythms of daily labor drift across the fields, blending with birdsong, wind, and the subtle movements of the forest. Distant church bells mark time, while rare interruptions, like an aircraft overhead, briefly punctuate the stillness before it settles again.
Interwoven with these audible environments, the stream also functions as a VLF (very low frequency) antenna, sensing electromagnetic activity in the 3–30 kHz band. Lightning events and ionospheric conditions imprint themselves as radio signals, which are rendered audible, adding a hidden atmospheric layer to the soundscape.
