This stream comes from Stanmer Organics, a 17-acre ecological community located in Stanmer Park near Brighton. Founded in 1997, the community currently runs 18 projects dedicated to horticulture, eco-building, green woodworking, ecotherapy, and arts and crafts. The carefully cultivated and rewilded plots contain crops, woodland, orchards, grasslands and hedgerows, bordering on a larger farm with horses and sheep. Birdsong is prevalent and one can hear goldfinch, greenfinch, blackcap, wren, blackbird, and wood pigeon, to name but a few. And in the distance, the ever-present traffic of the A27 main road. |
