La Pointe de la Jonction is where the Rhône and Arve rivers meet. In the morning, you can hear a cacophony of birds, the rivers rushing by, and the trains passing on the viaduct. In the distance, there are also sounds of cars and sirens.
In the early morning, anthropogenic sounds are minimal; the space belongs mostly to its natural inhabitants. Using the Merlin Bird ID app, I have identified several species in the area:
- Great Tit
- Eurasian Blackbird
- Carrion Crow
- Eurasian Wren
- Eurasian Blackcap
- Eurasian Blue Tit
- European Robin
- Song Thrush
For the live stream, I will be using a DIY hydrophone. Occasionally, the bird calls are resonant enough to pierce through the water’s surface and be captured from below.
