This site is a coastal wetland sanctuary for shorebirds to roost - the Robert Findlay Wildlife Reserve in Pūkorokoro Miranda, Aotearoa New Zealand. As the tide gets higher and covers their food sources in the tidal mudflats, the birds gather on the Reserve to rest. See more info at http://shorebirds.org.nz and http://www.intercreate.org. In 2026, the local time for high-tide the morning of May 2 is 7.26am. Hence we may hear the sound of bird chatter increasing on the Piako Pied Stilt Pond area of the Reserve as we get closer to that time.
