Lake Ohrid, spanning the border between Albania and Macedonia, is one of the world's oldest lakes, at roughly 1.3 million years old. It reaches depths of up to 288 metres and is home to more than 200 endemic species found nowhere else on Earth. 

Lin is a lakeside village situated on the western shore of Lake Ohrid, within the Ohrid-Prespa Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. It is recognised as one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe.
