Kerminy (Brittany, FR)

A dawn stream from Kerminy, a rural site in southern Brittany where artistic, agricultural and ecological practices meet across fields, meadows, forest edges and old buildings. The stream will listen to birds, wind, distant human activity, infrastructures and other subtle presences as the site turns into daylight.

It is prepared by Dominique Leroy and Jef Rolez, together with artists and volunteers present at Kerminy, and may include light performative gestures or vocalisations in dialogue with the surrounding sonic ecology.

This stream is produced from Kerminy, a rural site in southern Brittany where artistic, agricultural and ecological practices are developed collectively. It is activated through Radio-K, an experimental and occasional radio platform that captures and connects lived situations on site—traces of work, daily life, research and shared time between artists, inhabitants, farmers, researchers and volunteers.

For Reveil, the stream focuses on the transition into daylight across fields, forest edges and inhabited spaces. It listens to the gradual emergence of the sonic environment—birdsong, wind, distant human activity, infrastructures and other subtle or barely perceptible presences—as the Earth turns into the light.

In connection with other artists at a distance, the stream may include light performative gestures such as vocalisations during sunrise. These are not conceived as central performances, but as attempts to integrate within the existing sonic ecology—joining rather than leading, resonating alongside birds, wind, electrical lines or other audible and inaudible forces.

The intention is to explore a shared moment of passage, where different locations synchronise with the movement of the Earth entering sunlight. Each contribution remains open in form—between recording, listening and minimal intervention—allowing for multiple interpretations of what it means to “vocalise the light” together.

Radio-K provides the framework for this approach: a micro-local radio that accumulates, connects and reactivates fragments over time. For Reveil, it becomes a temporary listening point within a wider distributed network, linking Kerminy to other sites through a shared attention to dawn as a collective, planetary experience.
